GUWAHATI, Dec 31: The Kamrup (M) administration has its eyes set on an elephantine task on the civic front in the city in the years ahead. Non-performance over the years on the civic front has made the task a Herculean one.

Talking to The Sentinel over telephone today, Kamrup (M) DC M Angamuthu said: "We've much to do in the days ahead.  Some of the works that have made in a big way in our plan are - carrying out regular survey of riverfronts and making areas close to primary water channels like Bharalu, Morabharalu, Bahini, Bashistha, etc., running in the city free from encroachment; preservation of wetlands and water bodies within the city etc."

The DC further said: "Identification of open spaces for  making them green afresh; preservation and conservation of city biodiversity; preservation of cultural landscape; preservation of heritage landscape; formation of Swachch Bharat Clubs in residential areas, schools and colleges; encouraging plantation; involving various NGOs and youth organizations for capacity building and awareness generations, etc., are other areas we've sorted out to do."
