Anganwadis' dhar

GUWAHATI, Feb 26: The Sadou Asom Anganwadi Karmi Santha (SAAKS) and the Sadou Asom Anganwadi Sohayika Santha (SAASS) jointly staged a dhar at Prasanti Undyan at Dighalipukhuripar in the city today in support of their various demands. The two Anganwadi workers’ associations were being supported by the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity (KMSS) in getting their demands fulfilled.

The two organizations took out a procession from Dighalipukhuripar to the office of the Directorate of Social Welfare at Uzan Bazar in the city and gheraoed it in protest against the deduction in funds for the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) and in support of their demands for hike in their salaries and regularization of their posts. Social Welfare Department’s Deputy Secretary AC Alam today said that he would hold a meeting with the two Anganwadi associations on February 29.  It is worth mentioning here that these two organizations have long been agitating in support of their demands.
