Anima, Kula med for Shilpi Bota

GUWAHATI, Jan 10: The Directorate of Culture, Assam has nomited singers Anima Barthakur and Kula Baruah for Shilpi Bota, 2018 to be given away on January 17, 2018. The Department of Cultural Affairs is going to observe Shilpi Divas at Jyoti Chitraban in the presence of Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal and Cultural Affairs Minister ba Kumar Doley and Chief Minister’s press adviser Hrishikesh Goswami. The Chief Minister will give away the honour. 
The award was instituted in 1999. The award carries Rs 1 lakh, an angabastra and a citation.  Born in 1933, Anima Barthakur has been a regular vocal artiste of AIR since 1967. She sang as many as 600 songs in AIR. Born in 1938, Kula Barruah started singing as a child artiste and a grown-up artiste as well in AIR. As a playback singer, he sang in films like ‘Bishesh Erati’, ‘Brishti’, ‘Srimati Mohimamoyee’, ‘Sadori’, ‘Bonohongsho,’ ‘Sendur’ and ‘Prabhati Pakhir Gaan’. He also directed music in two films, two TV serials including ‘amghoria’.
