Anti Terrorism Day observed at Assam Secretariat

GUWAHATI, May 21: At the initiative of the Assam Secretariat, Anti Terrorism Day was observed today at its complex at 11 am in the presence of V K Pipersenia, Chief Secretary, Government of Assam, T Y Das, Additiol Chief Secretary along with other senior officials and employees of the secretariat.

On this occasion, the Chief Secretary paid floral tributes to former India's Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. After this event, employees and other officials of the secretariat were given pledge in Assamese by the Chief Secretary. Pledge was adopted against terrorism and to uphold and promote peace and social harmony.

It is mentioble that all over India, May 21st is observed as Anti Terrorism Day in the memory of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi who passed away on this day. On this day in the year 1991, former India's PM Rajiv Gandhi was killed brutally by terrorist attacks.
