GUWAHATI, Aug 30: Axom vanirman Xe (ANX) has urged the State Government to take steps to protect the interest of the indigenous people of the State. The Xe has also urged the youth in the State to huddle together so as to work for the interest of the locals. Addressing the press in the wake of the recent incident in gaon, ANX president Prabin Baishya said: “To save our land we need to create awareness among the young generation. We don’t need any political party or leader to work for us. We’ll work it our own to save our own land. We should also think about our valuable resources like tea, oil and many more which are getting less importance nowadays.” The ANX will organize a meeting on September 10 at Assam State Museum to discuss the issue. “Some 30 years backs the situation in the State was such that a section of youth had to float the ULFA. Dispur should take steps so that such a situation doesn’t revisit the State. The indigenous people of the State should be given safeguard. Anyone entering Assam before March 25, 1971 should be given identity cards without any political inclition.”
