APCC burns BJP MP’s effigy

GUWAHATI, Jan 27: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today burnt the effigy of BJP MP Viy Katiyar for, what the APCC said, his derogatory remarks against Priyanka Gandhi. In a statement issued to the press today, APCC president Ripun Bora lambasted the BJP for its lack of respect to women. “Women are highly respected in our country by its culture, tradition and religion. The Constitution of India gives high esteem to the women of India,” Bora said, and added that the remark reflected the mindset of the party towards women. He demanded of the Prime Minister and the party president to take action against the MP.
