APCC hits back at BJP MLA

GUWAHATI, June 24: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has hit back at BJP MLA Jadav Deka and asked him to 'take a look at what is happening in his own backyard before criticizing others'.

The BJP MLA came down heavily on APCC president Anjan Dutta yesterday and demanded his removal for his involvement in the Saradha scam in which he was grilled by the CBI. Deka also termed Dutta the 'yak of scams'.

In a statement issued to the press today, APCC spokesperson Amal rayan Patowary said: "Dutta was grilled by the CBI, but that doesn't mean that he is an accused. rendra Modi was grilled in the Godhra case when he was Gujarat Chief Minister. He was acquitted on the case after long ten years. He, however, didn't resign during that period. How come Deka raise such a demand in case of Dutta?"

On Deka alleging that MP Gaurav Gogoi has a number of friends who have been running syndicates, the APCC said: "Deka should look at his own backyard before criticizing others. He should count of the number surrendered militants and others involved in syndicates seeking BJP tickets for the 2016 Assembly elections."

The APCC said that the people of Assam are conscious, and they will exercise their conscience vote. "Assam voters never support commulism," the APCC said, and added: "The BJP coming down from 84 to 64 a year before the polls says that their number will come down even more after the polls."
