GUWAHATI, January 30: The Congress in Assam is determined to make it to Dispur for the fourth term in a row at all cost, and to make that really happen the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) held as many as 24,280 meetings on a single day today in as many booth–level APCC committees. While Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi held a meeting at Ward No. 10 at Jorhat where he casts his vote, APCC president Anjan Dutta held a meeting at Ward 4 in Amguri. All party leaders of the state, including MPs, MLAs, APCC leaders and others were present in their respective wards to hold and attend the party’s booth–level meetings. After the meetings, APCC chief Anjan Dutta said: “Along with the booth–level meetings of the party, fund raising from party members in the form of dotions marked the day today. The funds collected today will come to the APCC that will send them back to the grass–roots–level bodies of the party for their use for organizatiol works of the party later. When a Congress member dotes funds for the party, his attachment to the party gets strengthened.” Dutta further said: “The Congress doesn’t depend on funds of Fancy Bazar businessmen to fight polls.”
