GUWAHATI, Oct 5: Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) cadres and leaders have been running door-to-door in the State asking people to ascertain if Prime Minister rendra Modi has been successful in translating the assurances which he gave before the people of the country in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls, 2014 into reality.

The public relations programme of the State PCC has been underway since October 2 and will conclude on December 31 this year.

In a statement issued to the press today, senior APCC spokesperson Apurba Kumar Bhttacharya said: “In the run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, as BJP’s prime ministerial candidate rendra Modi did give a large number of assurances to the voters. It’s time to ascertain as to how much he has been successful in translating the assurances into reality. Modi was on record assuring the voters that after coming to power, the BJP government would bring back black money stashed in foreign banks with 100 days. However, the Modi government has completed 900 days but it hasn’t brought back even a rupee black money stashed in foreign banks. Modi even said that, if voted to power, his government would pay Rs 15 lakh black money to each and every family of the country. On employment front, Modi did say that his government would provide job avenues to two crore unemployed youth in the Central government yearly. Going by that assurance, as to how many youths of Assam have got jobs in Central Government? On the price front, Modi was on record telling the voters that the BJP, if voted to power, would halve the prices of essential commodities. However, after the BJP coming to power, the prices of essential commodities have just doubled. Modi also said that the prices of commodities were high during the Congress regime because of corruption and syndicate raj. Now he should make it clear as to why the prices of all essential commodities have doubled after the BJP coming to power. Modi also promised to ensure 24x7 power supply in the country. How far he is successful on this front needs to be made public.”
