GUWAHATI, April 22: The newly appointed office-bearers of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) and the presidents of the District Congress Committees (DCCs) will take charge at Mabendra Sarma Complex at Dispur on April 29 when they will have a discussion on enrollment of new members to the party. The drive for enrollment of new members to the party will conclude on May 15.
In a statement issued to the press today, senior APCC spokesperson Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya appealed to the Centre to give up its policy of job-cut in all government departments and agencies and asking the State governments to follow suit. “Giving jobs to at least two crore qualified unemployed a year was a poll promise of the BJP. How come the party goes for job-cut in government departments and agencies now?” he questioned, and added: “The assurance was jobs to two crore youth a year, but in the past three years jobs were given to only 3.50 lakh youths. We appeal to all student and youth organizations to stage protest against the job-cut policy of the Centre.”
