APCC slams Modi for hike in fuel prices

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 2: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has taken a dig at the Nerendra Modi-led NDA Government at the Centre saying that the latest hike in prices of all kinds of fuel in the country is a sample of Modi’s acche din and parivartan.

In a statement issued to the press here today, the State PCC said: “We vehemently oppose the anti-people decision to hike in the prices of LPG, kerosene, petroleum and diesel. The price of non-subsidized LPG  has been hiked by Rs 18 a cylinder, that of kerosene by Rs 3 a litre, diesel by Rs 2.94 a litre, petrol by Rs 1.06 a litre and fuel for aeroplane by Rs 627 a kl. Though the price of crude oil has been falling fast in the intertiol market, the Modi government goes on hiking prices of oil by levying various cesses at various levels. It’s the common people who have to bear the brunt for such hikes. The Centre that keeps on giving largesse for the corporate sector has hiked the prices of essential commodities to an unexpected height. This is the party that came to power with the promise of keeping tab on hike in prices. However, after coming to power, the NDA keeps on hiking prices. In one hand, the NDA talks of acche din and change in Assam, and on the other, it shies away from taking any strong steps to check the rise in prices of essential commodities. The Prime Minister, though his programme – mon ki baat – keeps on expressing what he thinks but he never lends his ears to hear the mon ki baat of the commoners.”
