GUWAHATI, March 31: A delegation of the Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress (APMC) met Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on Saturday and apprised him of the rising crimes against women in the State and sought his intervention into the matter. The delegation demanded of the Governor to ensure a stringent law to tackle such crimes against women in the State. “Rapists and juvenile rapists should be given stringent punishments,” they said. On the decision taken by Dispur to downgrade Assam Women’s University (AWU), the APMC delegation demanded of the Governor to ensure the rollback of the move.
