Appeal on car registration, permit

GUWAHATI, Oct 3: Complaints have been received that extra money has been sought by the staff of some of vehicle dealers from customers for the purpose of registration and permits etc., at the time of purchase of vehicles. This is viewed seriously.

The State Transport Department has appealed to the general public in this connection that a detailed inquiry may be made by the customer before paying any such amounts. Proper receipts also should be insisted upon against every rupee that is paid to the dealer.

Action will be taken against the dealers in cases where such allegations are found to be true, the department said, and added that no payment should be made to any staff  or official of the Transport Department in any DTO office or any other place, for any purpose other than for payment of the government prescribed fee/ taxes.
