GUWAHATI, July 15: Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Chairman Rakesh Paul today said that the answer scripts of the Combined Competitive Examitions (Main), 2015 to be conducted by the Commission from September 6 this year would be evaluated in-house under CCTV surveillance. This will be the first such step to have taken by the APSC in its history.
On the near total error-free results of the CCE, 2014 declared recently by the APSC, Paul said while talking to The Sentinel: “This is an outcome of combined efforts by all in the Commission. Barring a few dissatisfactions, there was no error in the results. I’ve been trying my best for APSC reforms since 2013 when I came at the helm of affairs in the Commission. We’re trying hard to make the CCE and its results better in the future. We’re going to evaluate the answer scripts of the CCE (Main), 2015 going to be held from September 6 this year in-house under CCTV surveillance. This is first such steps to have taken by the APSC since its inception.”
Paul further said: “One of the reasons behind the CCE, 2014 results being a smooth affair is candidates from diverse disciplines taking the APSC examitions. We’ve as many as 36 BE, an MBBS, 29 MBA and L.L.B, 82 M.A./M.Sc. candidates, besides 32 others in the fil list of candidates this time around. We’re trying hard to do better. In the CCE, 2016 we want to make the syllabus same as that of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).”
Paul, however, said: “Making everything smooth depends largely on all-out efforts by all stakeholders. Say the case of the CCE, 2016. According to fair practice, we need to know the exact number of posts from the State Government by January. The State Government should’ve provided us a draft advertisement by January this year. However, we’re still in dark on the exact number of vacant posts. The State Government should have let the APSC know the exact number of posts to be filled, by January every year.”
On CCE, 2015, Paul said: “We’re trying hard. We’ll declare the fil results by January, 2017.” Earlier holding of combined competitive examitions by the APSC was very irregular before Paul coming at the helm of affairs. It was held very irregularly in 2001, 2006, 2009 and in 2013. However, after Paul coming at the helm of affairs in 2013, it is being held regularly.
