Aranyak to host consultation on climate change adaptation

GUWAHATI, Nov 9: Environmental organization Aaranyak is going to organize a regiol consultation on Cooperation in Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation in the Brahmaputra River Basin’ at Guwahati on November 10 and 11. 

The purpose of the Consultation is to deliberate on the changing scerio of water induced disasters (flood, flash flood, river bank erosion, excessive sedimentation of river beds and banks etc.), and climate change impact (erratic rainfall, extreme events, drought like situations, effect on agriculture etc.) in the Lower Brahmaputra River Basin lying in India and Bangladesh and recommend specific strategies for mitigation of the same through regiol cooperation in water governce. 

Experts, practitioners and policy makers from all the states sharing the Brahmaputra River Basin in India as well as representatives from Bangladesh and Bhutan will participate at the event, a press release said.
