Army conducts lecture cum demonstration on fire fighting

GUWAHATI, Sept 18: The field ammunition depot of Indian army at rangi Cantonmentt in the city under the aegis of Headquarter 51 Sub Area organized a comprehensive lecture cum demonstration incorporating all the modern aids available to mitigate the effects of accidental fire on Saturday.

The lecture cum demonstration included lectures on important aspects of fire risk magement and measures to mitigate fire risks, instructions on use of various types of major and minor firefighting equipment and their utilization in various types of fires and demonstration of the capabilities available to handle a fire accident effectively.

Focus was also laid on the synergized use of all fire fighting resources of Army and other agencies like Indian Air Force, Central Para Military Forces and State Police in an unfortute event of a fire accident. Representatives of all these organizations besides the Army actively participated in the aforesaid lecture cum demonstration, displaying the required synergy to jointly fight any such untoward incident under any condition. Maj Gen AK Jha, General Officer Commanding (GOC) 51 Sub Area along with senior officials of various agencies witnessed the event and was highly appreciative of the effort displayed. The GOC exhorted upon all present to take utmost care and precautions to avoid any such untoward incident, he also pressed upon the need for keeping one abreast with the emerging technologies world over in the field of fire alarm and warning systems and also the latest trends in equipment and measures to fight a fire accident with maximum efficacy and resolve, in the shortest time frame.
