BOKO, March 17: The 35th triennial conference of All Rabha tiol Council (ARNC) began on Friday at Boko Suwori Samani Khetra. The conference is going to conclude on Sunday.
The main gate, med as Late Sabiyasasi Rabha memorial gate, of the conference was opened by Late Sabiyasasi Rabha’s widow Rongila Rabha. The exhibition was opened by former Boko MLA Jyoti Prasad Das.
Gobinda Rabha, secretary of the council, said: “Delegates came from West Bengal, Meghalaya, Bodoland and from all over Assam, along with Rabha Hasong areas. We’re going to discuss major issues like the demand for inclusion of the present Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC) area and Rabha Hasong Development Council in the Meghalaya state, West Bengal State and Bodoland along with other parts of the Assam to develop Rabha tribal people into Six Schedule. Most of the Rabha tribal people are living at Bodoland (in the four districts Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa and Udalguri) along with other districts – Sonitpur, Hojai, gaon, Karbi Anglong, Golaghat, Dhemaji and Tinsukia. RHAC cannot cover them and as such the Government of Assam should create Rabha Development Council in those areas.”
Members of All Rabha tiol Council, along with Boko Jawaharlal Nehru College principal Dr. Nripen Goswami, released a souvenir Jasraksini on Saturday.
