GUWAHATI, Jan 28: Intensifying its protest to press the State government for amendment of Assam Venture Educatiol Institution Provincialisation Act 2011 and other demands, the Asom Shikshak Karmachari Aikya Mancha staged a protest demonstration near the Samadhikshetra of Dr Bhupen Hazarika in Jalukbari.

It may be mentioned that though the ASKAM was supposed to take out a protest march from Jalukbari to Dispur, police denied permission and stopped the ASKAM activists at Jalukbari. As a result, the ASKAM activists staged a protest demonstration at Jalukbari with plates in the hands and tying a gamusa on their stomach.

In a statement to the media, ASKAM president, Prabhat Chandra Kalita and general secretary Anowar Hussain said that though the process of provincialisation of venture schools have started, some particular clauses of the Assam Venture Educatiol Institution Provincialisation Act 2011 and the amended version of 2012 and 2013 have some flaws which are standing as hurdle in regularization of jobs of some teachers and employees.

“The education minister gave assurance in the floor of the house that the Act will be amended, but till now it has not happened. So, we appeal the government and the education minister to amend the Act in the next Assembly session and to facilitate provincialisation of venture schools established before 1.1.2006,” the statement said.

ASKAM also urged the government to bring the regularized schools under the ambit of the Assam Venture Educatiol Institution Provincialisation Act 2011.
