GUWAHATI, Aug 22: The Assam state unit of All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) has decided to join the all India General Strike on September 2. AIBOC general secretary has called upon all affiliates to observe strike all over the country on that day.

The Assam state unit of AIBOC secretary Dilip Roychoudhury said in a press release that despite protest from the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on July 29 and on August 9, the government is not relenting and continuing to speed up the so-called fincial sector reforms.

“The superannuation issues of retirees are pending for so long. The government is attempting to amend the labour laws to weaken the trade unions. No steps are being taken for publication of mes of 30 big defaulters of each bank. Willful defaulters are not declared crimils. There are many corporate defaulters, escaping due to iction and lack of will power on the part of Government. HR policies of banks are being changed using puppet consultants of western powers like Boston Consulting Group, Mcknsey & Co. etc,” he said.

The AIBOC, therefore, feels that it is time to consolidate its movement and try to bring all officers working in public sector together under Save Public Sector Forum.

“To speed up our struggle against privatization of public sector banks and Labour Law Reforms, the AIBOC Assam unit will join the September 2 strike with full enthusiasm and sprit,” he said.
