GUWAHATI, Jan 28: Will the pat-moga collection of Assam designer Sanjukta Dutta prove to be a real showstopper? The collection of dresses which Bollywood sensation Preiti Zinta is set to don is up for a solo show at Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017 on Day 2 i.e. is February 2, 2017.

The fashion week is going to start from February 1, 2017 at Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. With this feat Sanjukta is going to be the first from Assam to showcase her collection at Lake Fashion Week Summer/Resort, 2017. She was the first Assamese woman designer to showcase her design in Lakme Fashion Week, 2016. Talking to the media here today, Sanjukta said: "Solo show in Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort is my childhood dream. I've accorded top priority on pat-muga combition in Assamese Mekhala Chador. If everything goes as planned, Bollywood sensation Preiti Zinta will don the collection on the ramp. The collection with 21 different dresses is set to be a showstopper."

Speaking on her collection, Sanjukta said: "This year, through my collection at Lakme on Sustaible and Textile Day I want to showcase the moldings of Assamese silk into various attires. I've decided to bring in new design sensibilities, whilst preserving the traditiol designs from the region. I have kept several motifs that are seen on traditiol textiles of the Northeast intact as they are traditiol, beautiful and they hold symbolic meaning."

The designer further said: "I'm of the singular belief that clothing and attire is not just a piece of cloth but a key and integral part of every human being and their identity. My belief is that one's clothing tells a story, not just the kind of person you're but also the mood you're in."

Sanjukta's stylish, fashioble and exquisite range of completely customized Assamese 'Mekhela chador' has not just made her a range in eastern India, but is also capturing the imagition of discerning women in other parts of the country and the world. She is set to showcase her hand-woven Assamese silk collection, representing the true tural beauty, tranquility, commul harmony and rich culture of the Northeast at the Summer/Resort 2017 edition of Lake Fashion Week.
