GUWAHTI, Jan 23: ndini Baruva, who owns label Kirameki, is going to showcase her creations at Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai. The collection Bhumisattva - is a story which resotes the sounds of the Taat Xaal of Assam. The collection echoes sustaible fashion, tural fabrics woven primarily from pineapple (pi) fibre, Ba fibre and very importantly the indigenous Eri (Endi) silk also known as Ahimsa silk. The design inspiration revolves round the small weaving hamlets of Assam, hand-woven tales of tural fibres that are woven into tural and organic fabrics. The Bhumisattva collection is inspired from ture, plant based and Ahimsa fabrics, altertive and sustaible fashion. “Hand weaving and hand embroidery methods are used in designing the collection. Traditiol Assamese motifs dating back to the Royal Ahom dysty is depicted through weaving and block printing. The Xinghap buta and Gos buta are the primary motifs in the collection,” said ndini Baruva. The designer has tried to promote tural fabrics and dyes in this Indo-Western collection, the colour palette being ivory, beige, gold and red. The designer has used tural raw materials to design coordited shoes and handbags. Customised Assamese motifs made in silver and gold are extensively used as design elements.
