Assam has potentials for auto industries: Governor

GUWAHATI, Nov 26: Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit iugurated the first Automotive Components Manufacturers Association (ACMA) Aftermarket Expo- North East with the theme ‘Make Quality and Innovation in India’ on Saturday at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre in the city.

The two-day expo being held for the first time in Assam has been organized by the ACMA in association with the Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises and is supported by Guwahati Motor Parts Traders’ Association. The expo has been organized to provide a platform for interface between the manufacturers, traders and customers.

Speaking at the event, the Governor made a fervent appeal to the participants to invest in Assam. Making a strong pitch for investment in Assam he said, “Land of Assam is very virgin for investment as the State holds tremendous potential for the expansion of auto industries as the State is gateway to the South East Asian countries”.

Emphasizing that his ‘one-point agenda’ that is bolstering the development of Assam, Purohit urged the entrepreneurs to come forward and utilize the State’s conducive investment climate coupled with the State’s progressive ‘ease of doing business’ posture. He, however, cautioned that ‘commerce without morality is a sin’ and asked the business houses to show their social responsibility and undertake some welfare functions.

Purohit also said that the people of Assam are very friendly and hospitable and any business venture in the State will always be accepted in right earnest in the State and everybody should come forward to complement this noble cause.  

Apart from the participation of 80 leading component manufacturers who are showcasing their  spare parts technologies and products, over two thousand distributors from the entire north east have also made their footfalls visible in the expo. Moreover, an awareness programme will also be featured as a part of the expo.

Director General of ACMA Vinnie Mehta, president of ACMA Ratan Kapur, Director of Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Pravin L Agrawal, along with a host of other dignitaries, were present at the event.
