Assam IAS officer commits suicide

GUWAHATI, Aug 11: A senior IAS officer –Mukesh Pandey – has been found dead near a railway track at Ghaziabad in Delhi NCR. The body of Buxar District Magistrate was found about one km from the Ghaziabad railway station, police said. A suicide note was also recovered from the spot.

The suicide note said, “I, Mukesh Pandey, is committing suicide”. In the letter Pandey also mentioned he was staying at the Lila Palace in the room number 742.

The 2012 batch IAS officer, who allegedly committed suicide in the tiol capital on Thursday, had made Assam proud by securing 14th position in IAS examition. His sudden death came as a shock for people of the State.

Pandey had his schooling at Faculty Higher Secondary School in North Guwahati up to Class X and then did his Higher Secondary from Maria’s Public School. He did his graduation in BA with English honours from Cotton College.

As the shocking news of his suicide arrived, a pall of gloom descended in the Bamunimaidam locality in Guwahati where Pandey’s house is located.
