Assam-Laos pact to boost tourism

GUWAHATI, Nov 25: To make cultural exchange a reality, Assam Tourism Development Corporation (ATDC) signed a three-year joint declaration for cultural exchange with Laos on Thursday. Speaking to The Sentinel, ATDC Director Jayanta Malla Boruah said: “We’ve signed an agreement of three years with Laos. The motto is to exchange our culture with the South-East Asian country and to promote tourism jointly. We’ve discussed as to how we can woo tourists from each others’ countries. A plan drawn for the purpose has details of the roadmap.” A cultural troupe from Laos that accompanied the delegation mesmerized the audience after the signing of the declaration. From Assam’s part, Bihu dance and Xatriya dance were presented on the occasion participated by students and other stakeholders of society from both the tions. Laos Brand Ambassador to India and Tourism Vice Minister were present in the cultural evening. They were highly pleased to have seen the Assamese culture.
