'Assam needs to be indigenous and Hindu majority'

GUWAHATI, Nov 4: The Hindu Yuba-Chatra Parishad: Asom (HYCPA) has said that most of the Muslim organizations, which have been raising a hue and cry in the State with the slogan ‘division of foreigners in the me of religion has no room in Assam’ are not driven by the urge of Assamese tiolity but by the fear of their conspiracy to make Assam an Islamic majority state getting derailed.

In a statement issued to the press today, HYCPA president Balen Baishya and general secretary Dipankar Gohain said: “The individuals and organizations that have been crying foul for, what they say, division of foreigners on the basis of religion were seen to have divided the people, who have been evicted from the Kaziranga tiol Park recently, on the basis of religion. Why is this doublespeak? Since the encroachers belong to a particular faith, these organizations and individuals created a lot of hue and cry. Why was their secular sense missing at that time? If the population of Muslim becomes more in Assam, only being linguistic majority can’t save the State. Despite speaking the same language, Hindus had to desert Jammu & Kashmir because of the over population of Muslims. In such a situation, keeping Assam an indigenous Assamese majority state is as important as keeping the State a Hindu majority one.”
