Assembly Secretariat staff to get new salaries

GUWAHATI, July 3: Now the employees of the Assam Assembly Secretariat are set to get salaries in new structures. The development came close on the heels of the State Government employees getting their salaries in accordance with the Seventh Pay Commission Recommendations.

The Fourth Pay Commission for Assam Assembly Employees Secretariat submitted its report to Assam Assembly Speaker Hitendra th Goswami on Monday. The committee headed by West Guwahati MLA Ramendra rayan Kalita met the Speaker and submitted the report. The other members of the committee are Mansing Rongpi, Rajdeep Goala, Debanda Hazarika and Aminul Islam. Assam Assembly Principal Secretary Mrigendra Kumar Deka was also present when the recommendations were submitted.

The committee recommended a huge raise in the salaries of every grade of employees in the Assam Assembly Secretariat, besides recommending for the creation of a number of new posts for smooth conduct of Assembly works.

According to the committee, they recommended Rs 1.30 lakh as the salary of the Principal Secretary, and each of the additiol secretaries to up to get Rs 1.10 lakh per month. The committee recommended fresh rules for promotion and allowances. There is a recommendation for monthly payment of overtime duty of the employees (legislative allowance).   

The committee recommended the creation of 50 to 60 new posts for hassle-free functioning of the Assembly Secretariat. According to the committee, the report will be effective after the approval of the government.
