ASTART to pay tribute to Arun Sarma

GUWAHATI, March 25: On the occasion of World Theatre Day on March 27, the Arun Sarma Theatre & Remembrance Trust (ASTART) will organize an event at Pragjyoti ITA, Machkhowa, as a tribute to the renowned writer and playwright of Assam, late Arun Sarma. The event will also mark the 1st death anniversary of late Sarma.

In recognition of his rich contribution to the Assamese cultural are, a biography med ‘Xipaar Chiki’ will be released by Po Mahanta, renowned educationist of Assam.

‘Aahaar’ a play by Kopil Bora & troupe will also be staged during the event. The play is directed by Abish Sarma.

Arun Sarma was one of Assam’s contemporary playwrights and is best known for his unconventiol plays. He was awarded the Padma Shree in 2010 in recognition to his contribution to Assamese literature.
