ATM looted; 4 thieves arrested

GUWAHATI, Nov 13: Hatigaon police today caught four thieves - Jabor Ali, Bikram Choudhury, Saidur Rahman and Batasmia - today and seized 15 mobile sets, five laptops, Rs 35,000 cash and a huge quantity of gold and silver orments from them. In another incident in the city last night, the ATM of Axis Bank at Ashram Road in the Ulubari area in the city was broke open by miscreants and decamped with around Rs 4 lakh from the boxes containing notes of 500-rupee and 1000-rupee denomitions. The matter came to light at 6 this morning when the local people informed the police of it. The police rushed to spot and recovered Rs 1 lakh from the box containing 100-rupee denomitions. The miscreants broke one of the two CCTVs at the ATM. A case this regard has been registered at Paltan Bazar police station. Investigation is on.
