GUWAHATI, June 26: Dispur MLA Atul Bora has said that Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal did extend a good suggestion to the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) only to fall on the deaf ears of the latter.

Talking to newsmen at Dispur Press Club today, Bora said: “Dhemaji DFO Mahat Chandra Talukdar destroyed wildlife in the State. And Rakesh Paul is another Mahat. He has hatched a conspiracy to spell doom for the future of the next generation in the State. He needs three months, not three hours as wanted by the Chief Minister, to declare the results of an interview just to mint money. I want a CBI inquiry into the allegations against Rakesh Paul. I’ve written a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard.”

In a letter that was set to be submitted to the Chief Minister, Bora said: “…Immediate and appropriate actions should be taken against him (Rakesh Paul) for his irresponsible utterances… The Chief Minister’s advice to declare results within 3 hours of oral tests is to do away with underhand dealings and changing the list at will. The Chairman’s response to this advice is most deplorable and is a clear indication that he wants to continue with taking bribes and prepare the selection lists accordingly.”

In his letter, Bora urged the Chief Minister to take urgent measures to ensure a CBI inquiry against Paul when the Supreme Court would start the hearing on a petition for instituting a CBI inquiry against the misdeeds of Paul. The apex court will start hearing the petition from July 4, 2016.

Bora is also set to request the Chief Minister to immediately order a thorough inquiry either by the anti-corruption branch of the Assam Police or by the Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell for investigating details of property amassed by Paul before he had become the Chairman of the APSC and afterwards in the last few years since he has been chairman.

Bora also urged the Chief Minister to move proceedings in the Assembly to remove Rakesh Paul as APSC chairman.
