Awareness drive on cashless transactions launched at Guwahati Refinery

GUWAHATI, Dec 15: Guwahati Refinery today launched an awareness programme on cashless transactions amongst the contractual employees in collaboration with State Bank of India, a press release said.

Planned as a series of awareness and hand-holding camps to be done continuously beginning today, the programme aims to cover all in digital transactions including employees and family members for using e-wallets, UPI, debit cards etc.

For the rapid adoption of digital payment systems among all, a directive by the Central government was sent to government organisations including CPSEs to achieve objective of corruption-free and transparent modes of fincial transactions.

The programme, held at Gate no.2 of Guwahati Refinery, was iugurated by Anja B. Sharma, DGM (Admin, CC & CSR).  

Around 100 contractual employees were present at the gathering which was held at 8:00 a.m.

Sumangali Choudhury, Chief Mager, SBI, GRC branch briefed on the advantages associated with use of ATM cards, mobile wallets, swipe machines etc. and how such facilities could be conveniently used.

Other bank officials, Ramsiary and Basanta Hazarika, who are desigted CSPs (Customer Service Points) gave further details during their briefing.

The event generated a lot of interest amongst those present with a number of queries which the CSPs adeptly fielded.

A drive for facilitating opening of ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yoja Account’ for contractual employees is also underway at Guwahati Refinery, which is being done in association with SBI, GRC branch so as to ensure 100 percent of all such employees have bank accounts; two camps one on December 8 and the other on the December 15 have been organised this month.
