AYM demands probe into KA irrigation scams

By our Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, April 1:  Asomiya Yuva Mancha (AYM) gave a pat on the back of the Sarbanda Sonowal-led Government at Dispur for the recent arrest of Irrigation Secretary Kujendra Doley for corrupt practices. The Parishad, however, knows not as to why Dispur has not been probing the irrigation scams in Karbi Anglong. Talking to newsmen in the city today, AYM secretary general Jitul Deka said: “No inquiry into various irrigation scams in Karbi Anglong for the past 15 years sounds like a riddle, wrapped in a mystery. Over 20 cases against irrigation scams in Karbi Anglong have been registered. We demand of the Chief Minister to ensure inquiries into all irrigation scams in Karbi Anglong district.” On the APSC scam, Deka said: “With the arrest of APSC chief Rakesh Paul and his accomplices, it can be said as a success story. However, not a single candidate, who could have got government job by bribing APSC members or others, has been arrested as yet. This makes a question mark starker. If such candidates who got jobs through bribery aren’t punished, such inquiries serve little their purpose. In the interest of ensuring good governce, such candidates have to be dismissed from their jobs. We demand a CBI inquiry into the APSC scam.”
