Azara PO may make visitors go postal!

AZARA, May 29: Over 100 people who visit one of the most important sub-post offices on the outskirts of Guwahati - Azara Sub-Post Office - everyday have every reason to go postal, given the office infrastructure seen there continues for long.

Besides people living in the locality, the post office caters to the postal needs of employees of the Lokapriya Gopith Bordoloi Intertiol Airport, employees of the regiol the BSF at Patgaon near Rani, and many other Central and State government offices. Accounts in post offices, NSC, postal orders, drafting etc., are the kinds of numerous transactions which the post office has to do everyday. Taking into account the rush of people and the types of services it provides, the post office assumes much significance. Despite such an importance, the Postal Department has neglected the sub-post office and literally left it for dead.

The local people say that the important sub-post office has all along been working in an ordiry rented house for years together. The office campus is inundated when there is a smart spell of shower for half an hour.

Over hundreds of people who visit the post office every week day have a harrowing time due to its location and lack of amenities, including uril. This apart, the office is very congested where visitors cannot even sit due to lack of space. Old people have to face various problems.
