Banned notes found in city

GUWAHATI, April 16: Banned 500-rupee and 1000-rupee notes stashed in Assam and other States in the Northeast, it seems, have not been fully deposited to the banks or destroyed. Banned 500-rupee and 1000-rupee notes with a face value of Rs 1,08,99,500 were recovered from a car (AS01BM8130) parked at the Volvo Point at Ulubari in the city in the evening of April 13. The amount comprises 109 bundles of 500-rupee notes and 48 bundles of 1000-rupee notes. There were also some loose notes.
