Barthakuria no more

GUWAHATI, August 12: Gauhati University’s Sanskrit HOD Professor Apurba Chandra Barthakuria passed away on Thursday night. He was 79. Barthakuria was a recipient of the Rashtrapati Award for popularizing Sanskrit in India. He was also the recipient of the Assam Sahitya Award conferred on him by the Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad in 2012. He leaves behind his wife Giribala Barthakuria.
