BBCI observes Palliative Care Day

GUWAHATI, Oct 13: Dr. B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI), Guwahati has celebrated World Hospice & Palliative Care Day on Friday. On this occasion the Institute planned a live event of continuous painting for two days med “Continuous painting on Canvas” from October 12 to 13, 2017. Fil year students of Government College of Arts and Crafts, Guwahati have participated in the programme. Altogether seven paintings have been completed by them with themes related to Cancer disease. Later the paintings were auctioned to raise funds for the poor and needy cancer patients of Assam.

BBCI Director Dr A C Kataki highlighted the importance of palliative care service for the cancer patients of North-Eastern states. He insisted that general people can help the cancer patients in various ways like orientation, referring, awareness, monitoring compliance of treatment, counseling the patients etc. A short course is available in the Institute for general people who want to volunteer for the betterment of the patients.
