Be growth engine for tion: Sonowal to youth

GUWAHATI, Aug 27: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal termed the youths of Northeast as drivers to propel region as the new engine for the country’s growth.

Launching the Assam Youth Forum in presence of writer Chetan Bhagat at Madhabdev Intertiol Auditorium at Sankardeva Kalakshetra in Panjabari on Sunday, Sonowal categorically said that in order to materialise Prime Minister rendra Modi’s coige of North East as new engine for growth, youths of the region would have to play the catalytic role. Sonowal said, “Assam is boast of its pool of human resources majority of whom are youths and we are committed to channelize the youth energy to put the state as well as the country into a high growth trajectory”.

Sonowal also said that the Government of Assam has been taking several steps to empower the youth and help them to turn themselves as the drivers to propel the Northeast as the new engine for the growth of the country. Terming the Northeast as the gateway to the Southeast Asia, Sonowal also called upon the youths to embrace more responsibility to transform the region into a new engine for growth.

Terming Assam as a state which has encapsulated in miniature the characteristics of a multi-cultural society in its unique way, Sonowal said, “Diversity is our strength and in order to make Assam stronger we have to work together”. Professing that “United we stand, divided we fall”, Sonowal said “bond of friendship, unity and integrity are our values and we have to maintain our values to make our society stronger and make Assam shine”. 

Sonowal also hoped that the Assam Youth Forum launched on Sunday turned out to be a positive stimulus to young members of the society which would provide to make a difference in their respective fields of professiolism.

Writer Chetan Bhagat also spoke at length in front of hundreds of youths assembled at the auditorium on the occasion.

Member Secretary State Level Advisory Board on Sports and Youth Welfare Lakshya Konwar and a host of other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
