Beefed-up security bandobast

GUWAHATI, May 3: The security bandobast at Jata Bhawan at Dispur has been beefed up

In view of increased threat perception, the Secretariat Administration Department (SAD) has already issued a circular proposing a slew of measures. According to the circular, (i) all officers/staff, including grade-IV employees of Assam Secretariat, officers and employees of other offices as well as police personnel must display their identity cards during office hours and at the time of entry, (ii) any brief-case/bag/laptop/camera or any other electronic equipment or machinery items etc., carried by anyone would have to be shown at the time of entry for checking and scanning by security personnel and also at the time of exit. Persons visiting the Jata Bhawan on behalf of any firm/company/association/office/department must carry an authorization letter, besides his/her identity cards and visitor pass. Items, which may be perceived as items of security risk, should not be allowed to carry, (iii) all persons, other than the officials of Assam Secretariat and visitors showing his/her identity cards and visitor pass, would be subjected to search and frisking by security personnel at the time of entry as well as at the time of exit, (iv) all visitors must enter their exit codes at Ga Sewa Bhawan at the time of exit, failing which they would be denied entry next time and (v) inverted mirror would invariably be used by the security personnel for thorough checking of vehicles at the time of entry and exit.
