Belgium Ambassador calls on Governor

GUWAHATI, March 21: Belgium Ambassador to India Jan Luykx called on Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit in Raj Bhavan today and discussed with him a gamut of issues ranging from inland water transport to river port development. 
The Governor drew the Belgium Ambassador’s attention that food processing, tourism etc., have vast potentials and Belgium can invest in these sectors for mutual benefits of both Assam and Belgium.  The Governor also said that if Belgium evinces its interest to invest in industries in Assam, Raj Bhavan would facilitate all support. 
The Belgium envoy, in his reply, said that he would request industrialists from Belgium to invest in Assam and also added that a delegation of investors is most likely to visit an investment summit in the country.
The Governor said to the Belgium Ambassador that it would be a pleasure if the King Philippe of Belgium can also visit Assam during his proposed visit to India.
The Belgium envoy also hailed Assam’s prolific and pristine tourism and said that the State’s tourism can be extensively used to facilitate people-to-people contact between India and Belgium. Purohit also acknowledged the Belgium envoy’s gesture of visiting Assam as he said that both the geographical entities will keep working to strengthen bilateral relations.
