GUWAHATI, Jan 15: In order to celebrate the identity of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, Questioning, and Allied (LGBTQA) in society which is not ready to accept them open-heartedly, the community is organizing the queer pride till date in the city. The LGBTQA pride walk of this year will bring participants from other states as well. The community will walk this pride walk on February 11, which will start from Dighalipukhuri. More than 300 participants are expected to be joining this pride walk this year. Speaking to this reporter, Transman Activist Lucky Neog said, “The purpose of this pride walk is to celebrate our identity in the face of society which would rather shame them than recognize them as human beings. Parades recognizes gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender and other queer people and makes them visible.” “This year people from other states like Manipur, Meghalaya and even Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Cheni are also likely to participate in the pride walk,” he added.
