Bihu delicacies that come at a price

GUWAHATI, April 12: Rongali Bihu is also famous for delicacies, apart from merrymaking. However, all that edibles come at a price.

While each 20-piece packet of til ladu costs Rs 70 to Rs 80, each packet of gura-ladu costs Rs 50. While a packet of tel-pitha costs Rs 50, each packet of coconut and til pithas costs Rs 50. A packet of coconut ladu also costs Rs 50. A kg each of xandaguri (rice flour), soft rice (komol choul), bora choul and mabuk beaten rice (chewra) is sold at Rs 100. While a packet of 200 gm akhkoi (parched paddy) is sold at Rs 40, a 200 gm packet of hurum costs Rs 100. A litre of liquid molasses costs Rs 100, a kg of bora choul is sold at Rs 80 a kg, bamboo shoot chatni at Rs 50 per 200 gm, curd made in bamboo at Rs 150 a litre, Sorbhog cream at Rs 500 a litre, etc.
