BJP denies APCC allegation on syndicates

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 21: BJP MLAs and MPs from Assam denied the allegations leveled against the party-led government at Dispur that the number of syndicates in the State has gone up after the BJP coming to power. Talking to newsmen on Sunday, MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasha said: “Syndicate is no longer relevant in the present context in Assam as 95 per cent of them have been dismantled. Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal has been tough against the reports of syndicates being run in the State. As an MP, I’m also playing a role not to allow syndicates to spring up in the State anew.” Dibrugarh MLA Prashanta Phukan, on the other hand, said: “There’s no syndicate in Assam, as I know.”
