Guwahati, March 31: During the campaign of 2014 Lok Sabha polls, BJP’s tiol president Amit Shah and then Prime Ministerial candidate rendra Modi promised that the party would take all possible steps for the overall development of the state. By promising all round development of Assam, the party won the hearts of the people of the entire tion as well as the state. However, after coming to power at the Centre, the BJP forgot all its 180 promises given to the people of Assam, says APCC President Anjan Dutta.

In a press communique, Dutta said, “The BJP leaders while visiting Assam ahead of the polls always shed crocodile tears. Every individual of Assam is just a voter for them and they visit Assam during elections and talk about development. They want to win the hearts of the people by mere rhetoric and forget about their promises once they go back to Delhi. Like the last Lok Sabha poll campaign , addressing an election rally today at Hailakandi, BJP tiol president Amit Shah announced that if BJP comes to power it will provide everyone with fincial assistance for building RCC houses and provide assistance to college going girls to buy scooty. He also promised old age pension for all and provincialisation of all venture schools. But the people of Assam has witnessed and heard these sorts of false promises from the BJP leaders before. They have been giving false promises ahead of the elections but the people of Assam won’t trust them.”

“After forming the government at the Centre, BJP choose to target Assam by removing special category status after 46 years. The Centre stopped 90:10 ratio fund due to special state categorization, depriving Assam of Rs 8500 crore,” Dutta said, questioning how the BJP government wants to develop the state after denying huge amount of funds, took on Amit Shah’s promise of making Hailakandi the most developed district of Assam, saying that the BJP has already stopped the Underdeveloped Area Development Funds previously allocated to many districts including Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Dhubri and Goalpara.

Anjan dutta appealed to the people of Assam not to fall into BJP’s false promises and unitedly stand in support of the Congress for overall development of the State.
