GUWAHATI, April 21: After the directive from party’s national president Amit Shah, the State BJP has started organizational activities – Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (GSA) – across rural Assam in full swing.
Now the party has decided to launch series of central and state welfare schemes focusing on the rural areas through party workers. State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass himself is gearing up for a massive campaign highlighting various welfare schemes taken up by the Government.
The preparation is presumably aimed to achieve the target set by the national president Amit Shah. In his recent address to the party’s booth presidents’ sanmilan at the Khanapara Veterinary Field in Guwahati, Shah strongly urged the party workers to win over 21 of the 25 Lok Sabha seats from the Northeast in the 2019 general elections.
The State BJP workers are all set to carry head loads of high-intensity outreach programmes to deliver various Central and State welfare schemes to select villages to entice the rural people for the ensuing 2019 general election.
To boost the morale of the party workers, Ranjit Dass has announced to spend at least 10 days in each parliamentary constituency of the State. Hence, the State president is supposed to spend 140 days across 14 parliamentary constituencies to expand the party base. Throughout the journey, Dass would be conducting meetings with booth, mandal and district party workers. He will also interact with intellectuals in their respective constituencies.
The State BJP has already launched the ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan- Special Interventions’ across Assam from April 18. Through this programme the party is aiming to investigate the access of welfare schemes of the government among the target beneficiaries. They also campaigned on sanitation, drinking water and open defecation-free schemes among the villagers. The objective of the Abhiyan is to promote social harmony, reach out to poor rural households, obtain feedback on ongoing programmes, enroll in new initiatives, focus on doubling farmers’ income, enhance livelihood opportunities and re-emphasize national priorities such as cleanliness and strengthen Panchayati Raj institutions.
On 24 April next commemorating the celebration of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, the state BJP will celebrate Rastriya Panchayati Raj Diwas across Assam to encourage proper functioning of the Panchayats and to ensure participation of the locals in the development process.
On 28 April next various welfare schemes of the Ministry of Rural Development will be focused under the programme – Grammya Shakti Abhiyan. On April 30, the party is going to apprise villagers of the provisions available with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
