GUWAHATI, Sept 4: The BJP Assam Pradesh has hailed the announcement made by State Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal on the total sealing of the intertiol border with Bangladesh.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by leaders of the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), visited the Mankachar sector of the India-Bangladesh border recently.

The State BJP, in a release issued to the press today by its spokespersons Bijan Mahajan and Manoj Baruah, said that the total sealing of the intertiol border with Bangladesh has been long-felt aspiration of the people of Assam. Just after completion of 100 days in office, the Chief Minister took a two-day visit to the intertiol border. “This shows how eager is the Chief Minister to solve all security-related problems of the people of the State,” the party said, and hoped that the sealing of the intertiol border would be completed within the time stipulated by Union Home Minister Rajth Singh.

On the completion of 100 days of the coalition government, the party spokespersons said that during the past 100 days the Congress had been out to mislead the people of the State by making misleading statements. The BJP, however, termed the statement made by the Congress that they had never expected ‘any supertural changes’ during the first 100 days of the BJP in office. “It seems that good sense has prevailed among the congress leaders,” the BJP spokespersons said, and added that the Congress should lend positive support to the positive steps taken by the BJP-led government in the State.
