GUWAHATI, April 7: Even before coming to power, the BJP has started extorting money from the business community of the State. This major allegation has been leveled by APCC vice president Ripun Bora.

He further alleged that BJPs chief ministerial candidate and State BJP president Sarbanda Sonowal recently summoned some businessmen of the city at Hotel Raj Mahal and asked them to give money to the BJP as they are forming the government.

“BJP is emotiolly blackmailing the people of the State. In Upper Assam they were seeking vote projecting the Muslims as a threat and now in Lower Assam they are threatening the Muslims,” Bora alleged.

On the other hand, in a separate press conference, actor turned politician, Congress MP Raj Babbar said that Prime Minister rendra Modi is good in publicity, he speaks but doesn’t act. “After defeat in Delhi, BJP was halted with a ‘comma’, in Bihar they got a ‘semicolon’, and now Assam will put a ‘full stop’,” Babbar said. He also slammed Modi on ‘acche din’ and questioned why so many farmers are still committing suicide.

Meanwhile, in yet another press meet, AICC general secretary, Shakil Ahmed who is also in the city, alleged that the BJP is spreading poison in the society. He said, “Tarun Gogoi brought peace and development to the State thereby ensuring welfare of the people. In the first phase people voted for development, people voted for peace and this will continue in the second phase too.”

On the other hand, reacting to Ripun Bora’s comment, BJP leader Rajkumar Sarma termed it as baseless.
