BJP puts ticket aspirants to test with 8-criterion hurdle!

GUWAHATI, Jan 15: Striving for BJP tickets to fight the panchayat poll in Assam? It is not going to be a cakewalk, certainly. The party has put ticket aspirants to test to qualify an eight-criterion hurdle. The State Cabinet recently took a decision to make only qualified candidates fighting panchayat poll. Simultaneously the State BJP, on its own, has laid emphasis on quailed candidates with a number of other qualifications mandatorily. The criteria of qualifications set by the party for its panchayat poll candidates to have are – he/she should be an influential and known figure who is connected to public life, an educated one, should be a member of the party and allegiant to it, acceptable to the people in general, should not be an accused in any case, should have a clean persolity, should have bright winning prospects and should be fincially well off. The party has formed its State Election Magement Committee (EMC) that has branches at booth and district levels. Aspiring candidates will have to apply for tickets to the booth-level election committees that will send them to the district-level committees for selection of candidates and send panels to the State Election magement committee.
