BJP reminds Gogoi, Bora, Saikia their past

GUWAHATI, Jan 25: In order to stop the campaign launched against the eight-month-old BJP-led government at Dispur by the Congress trio – former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora and CLP leader Debabrata Saikia – the BJP Assam Pradesh has just reminded of the Congress leaders what they did in the past 15 years.

Reacting to former Tarun Gogoi’s recent allegation that in the past eight-month BJP rule at Dispur only the liquor traders have been benefited, two BJP spokespersons Subhas Dutta and Dilip Saikia hit back at Gogoi, reminding him as to how he spelt doom for the Excise Department in the State. “It was then Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi who let the State Excise Department go to the rock-bottom. The massive tax dodging by liquour traders in connivance with a section of corrupt officials in the department robbed the State exchequer of a huge amount in the past 15 years. All these happened under the very nose of Gogoi as the Chief Minister. The people of the State were well aware of all such facts, and they were waiting for an opportune time to topple the government. And at last they made good use of the opportunity when it came,” the two spokespersons said, and added that soon after coming to power the BJP government in the State took immediate steps to put an end to the misdeeds perpetrated by the Congress. And the people of the State welcomed the move, they said.

Reacting to APCC president Ripun Bora’s recent statement that ‘State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is Md Bin Tuglaq’, the two spokespersons opted to remind Bora as to how the Education Department looked like when Bora was its minister. “Before then Education Minister Ripun Bora going to Tihar Jail the State Education Department was a total mess. However, soon after holding the charge of Education Department Himanta Biswa Sarma could put everything back on track. He controlled the schools that had been created by Bora overnight, and successfully brought transparency in appointment in the department. That also stopped other Congress leaders from looting people in the me of appointment,” they said.

They also said that CLP Leader Debabrata Saikia is out in a false campaign on issues like demonetization and implementation of the popular schemes in the State. “Everybody in the State knows as to how the Congress did in implementing various schemes in the State,” they said.
