BJP slams Gogoi, says Government trying to fulfil promises

GUWAHATI, Sept 26: State BJP on Monday claimed that the State government is sincerely trying to fulfil the promises made to the people of Assam before the Assembly polls during its four-month period in power.

Assam State BJP spokesperson Subhas Dutta in a statement said, “State government has started to fulfil the pre-poll promises. During its first four months term, as many as 130 bighas of land of the Bardowa Xatra, the birth place of Vaisvite saint Sankardev, have been made encroachment-free. Steps have also been taken to free the lands of others xatras of the state from settlers. The lands of Kaziranga tiol Park have also been made encroachment-free by evicting the settlers. Besides this as promised before the elections, Majuli has been declared a district.”

Dutta said that the economic condition collapsed by the previous Congress government has been revived and Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal led- State government has started the development process. Taking a dig at Congress, the BJP spokesperson said that former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi while going to criticise the present government has exposed his own failure.

“The Congress party has started a dirty politics over eviction at Kaziranga and provincialization of venture schools. The Congress Government while it was in power during the last 15 years, should have move cautiously while passing the Provincilisation of Venture Educatiol Institutes Act,” Dutta said.
