GUWAHATI, Dec 30: The BJP Assam Pradesh has warned the Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, Assam not to play cheap politics on Triple Talaq and to be cautious while making statement on the Bill against Triple Talaq that has got its passage in the Lok Sabha recently.

The State BJP said that fundamental organizations like Jamiat were against Triple Talaq so as to keep male supremacy intact. The issue of Triple Talaq had been sub judice for years, and recently the Supreme Court of India banned instant triple talaq. After the nod from the apex court the government introduced a Bill – Muslim Women (Marriage Protection) Bill, 2017 – in the Lok Sabha and got its passage. Now the Bill is set to be introduced in the Rajya Sabha.

In a statement issued to the press on Saturday, BJP’s State Minority Morcha general secretary Matiur Rahman said: “Prime Minister rendra Modi has given Muslim women in the country a protective shield. How painful is Triple Talaq is known to only the victim women and their kin. The issue had been sub judice for years. However, the apex court has banned Triple Talaq recently, besides asking the government to ect an Act against it. Now Muslim women feel secured which organizations like Jamiat never want. We warn the Jamiat to stay away from spreading a false and hate campaign against Triple Talaq and the Bill against it. The BJP won’t ever allow the Muslim women to remain subdued under religious fundamentalists.”

BJP’s Assam State Mahila Morcha president Bijuli Kalita Medhi said: “The statement against the Bill on Triple Talaq has made it crystal clear that organizations like Jamiat don’t like Muslim women being secured. Triple Talaq is opposed the world over and many Islamic tions have banned it. Many countries hailed the step being taken against Triple Talaq in India. We warn organizations like the Jamiat not to go for its hate campaign against the Bill.”
