BJYM distributes clay lamps in city

GUWAHATI, Oct 27: The BJYM, Assam state committee, has taken steps to distribute free clay lamps to the people of the State as a token of gift on the occasion of Deewali. The BJYM in a statement said that the distribution programme started today at Paltanbazar of the city from 1pm.

Mukuta Deka, former president, BJP City District, Diplu Ranjan Sarma, president, BJYM Assam Pradesh and other BJYM office bearers were present at the programme.

BJYM Assam Pradesh members informed that in the next two days, this kind of clay lamp distribution will take place at around 10 spots in Guwahati.  Leaflets explaining the significance of the organization’s call for boycotting the Chinese products were also distributed among people.

The BJYM in the statement further said that Diwali this year has brought a ray of hope for the workers of the state particularly of Barpeta district’s firework industry standing on verge of extinction, after the public boycott of ‘Made in Chi’ products.

“130 years old industry produce fireworks which are less polluting in ture but due to lack of publicity it was not getting proper attention from the buyers.  The call for boycott of the Chinese products made the public search for alterte source of supply of fireworks and this local industry got its long due attention,” the BJYM said.

According to various sources, there is almost 40% fall in the demand for Chinese products in the retail stores and there is significant growth in the demand for local products.
